What this covers

A customer or investor has asked for your SOC 2 report and you do not have one. SOC 2 is not something you buy off the shelf or sign for yourself - it is an independent attestation, and getting there means designing controls, running them, proving they work, and then having a licensed CPA firm examine the evidence. We handle the whole path in one engagement. We run the gap analysis, write the policies and implement the controls, stand up evidence collection (working alongside Vanta, Drata or your own tooling), and run the penetration test auditors expect to see. When you are ready, an independent licensed CPA firm performs the audit and issues the SOC 2 report; we prepare the evidence, manage the handoff, and support you through it. One point worth being precise about: Cybersecly is not a CPA firm and does not issue the attestation. The report is signed by an independent licensed CPA, engaged for your audit - which is exactly what makes it worth anything to the customer asking for it. Type I confirms your controls are designed and in place on a date; Type II proves they operated over a period, and is the one most enterprise buyers actually require.

  • Clear the SOC 2 box on enterprise security reviews and unblock the deal
  • Go from no controls to a signed report without hiring a compliance team
  • Get the penetration test auditors expect, included in the package
  • Know the price up front - one fixed fee, not an open-ended retainer

Methodology

How the work is done

Repeatable, documented, and recorded step by step so you can see what has been looked at.

  1. 01

    Scope & Gap Analysis

Agree the report type (Type I or Type II) and the systems and Trust Services Criteria in scope, assess current controls against them, and produce the remediation plan.

  2. 02

    Implement & Document

Write the policies, implement the missing controls, and stand up evidence collection so proof accumulates automatically rather than being reconstructed the week before the audit.

  3. 03

    Penetration Test

A full penetration test of the in-scope systems, with findings remediated and retested before the audit so they do not surface as exceptions in the report.

  4. 04

    Audit & Attestation

An independent licensed CPA firm examines the evidence and issues the SOC 2 report. We prepare the evidence package, manage the handoff, and support you through the auditor’s questions.

Why it matters

What you get out of it

  • Readiness and gap analysis

We map your current state against the Trust Services Criteria and tell you exactly what is missing before the clock starts.

  • Controls built, not just advised

Policies written, controls implemented and evidence collection configured - working with Vanta, Drata or your existing stack, not a folder of templates you have to finish yourself.

  • Penetration test included

SOC 2 expects a penetration test; ours is in the package, run by certified testers and mapped to the criteria the auditor checks.

  • Independent CPA attestation

The audit and the signed report come from an independent licensed CPA firm - the only kind of SOC 2 report a customer will accept.

What you receive

Delivered as documents at the end of the engagement, with a call to walk your team through them.

  • Readiness assessment and gap analysis against the Trust Services Criteria
  • Policy set and implemented controls, with evidence collection configured
  • Penetration test report, with findings remediated and retested
  • Evidence package prepared for the auditor
  • SOC 2 report - Type I or Type II - issued by an independent licensed CPA firm

Standards we review against

Coverage is recorded against these control by control, so “what did you actually check” has an answer.

  • AICPA Trust Services Criteria
  • SOC 2 Type I
  • SOC 2 Type II
  • SSAE 18

FAQ

Questions about SOC 2 compliance

Do you issue the SOC 2 report yourselves?

No, and no security firm legitimately can. A SOC 2 report is an attestation that only a licensed CPA firm can perform and sign. We do the readiness, implementation and penetration testing, and an independent licensed CPA firm - engaged for your audit - performs the examination and issues the report. That independence is what makes the report credible to the customer asking for it.

Should we get Type I or Type II?

Type I confirms your controls are designed and in place at a single point in time; Type II proves they operated effectively over a period, usually three to twelve months. Most enterprise customers and procurement teams want Type II. Type I is often used as a faster first step while you build up the observation window for Type II.

What does the $10,000 cover, and what moves it?

It covers our work - readiness, control implementation and the penetration test - plus the independent CPA attestation, starting from $10,000. What moves the number is the report type (a Type II over a longer window costs more than a Type I), the number of systems in scope, and any Trust Services Criteria beyond Security. You get a fixed figure after a short scoping call.

We already use Vanta or Drata - do we still need you?

The platform collects evidence; it does not design your controls, decide your scope, run your penetration test, or stand in front of the auditor. We do that work and use the platform you already pay for to carry the evidence, so you are not buying two things that overlap.

How long does it take?

Readiness and implementation typically run a few weeks, depending on how much is already in place. A Type I can follow shortly after; a Type II then needs an observation window - commonly three to twelve months - during which the controls run and evidence accumulates before the auditor examines it.
